摘要

Skin aging, driven by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, necessitates effective anti-aging solutions. This review explores nanoformulations containing essential oils (EOs) as a promising approach. It begins by explaining the skin’s structure and natural permeation pathways. The mechanisms of intrinsic and extrinsic aging are examined, focusing on the therapeutic potential of EOs. The role of nanotechnology in enhancing the effectiveness of these oils against aging is also discussed. Research indicates that EO nanoformulations improve skin elasticity, hydration, and reduce wrinkles. Research shows that polymeric nanoparticles containing propolis extract significantly increase collagen production and reduce wrinkles, demonstrating clinical anti-aging efficacy. These EO nanoformulations hold promise for anti-aging skincare innovation, combining innovation, safety, and accessibility to address various concerns. This review underscores the potential of EO nanoformulations as a key component of future skincare regimens. It highlights how these formulations represent a convergence of natural ingredients and scientific advancements to preserve and rejuvenate youthful skin.
