<p>Prednisolone is one of the most important glucocorticoid drugs prescribed for inflammatory and neoplastic diseases. In addition to its wide application, its poor bioavailability and extensive side effects, especially in cases of long-term administration, pose challenges to its use. Research has shown that the use of nanocarriers overcomes many of these challenges. Nanocarrier formulations of prednisolone significantly limit its systemic effects by enhancing the solubility and stability of the drug, reducing the need for repeated doses, and delivering the drug directly to the target site. In this study, the types of nanocarriers used for delivering prednisolone, such as liposomes, polymeric, inorganic, and carbon nanoparticles, have been reviewed. Additionally, the stimuli-sensitive systems prepared using nanoparticles and designed to transport this glucocorticoid have been reviewed. The therapeutic potential of simultaneous delivery of prednisolone with other drugs and their therapeutic efficacy in various diseases has been investigated. Clinical trials of Prednisolone in the form of nano-formulations and the pharmacokinetics of prednisolone nanocarriers are also mentioned. The review concludes with a critical review of current challenges in scalability, regulatory compliance, and clinical translation, emphasizing the need for continued research to fully exploit the benefits of nanocarrier-based delivery of prednisolone in the treatment of cancer and inflammation.</p> Graphical Abstract <p></p>
