Application and Safety Research of Nanotechnology in Cosmetics: Current Status, Challenges, and Future Prospects
摘要
Nanotechnology is increasingly applied in cosmetics because it significantly enhances product efficacy, improving active ingredients’ skin permeability and stability. However, the safety of nanomaterials has raised widespread concerns, particularly their potential to penetrate the skin and pose health risks. This article reviews the application of nanomaterials in cosmetics, including standard nanoparticles and nanosystems, and analyzes the advantages they offer in enhancing product performance. At the same time, the article explores the safety issues of nanomaterials, covering their potential to penetrate the skin and related toxicological studies. The current regulatory status of nanomaterials worldwide is also compared, highlighting the challenges faced. To assess the safety of nanomaterials, this article introduces various assessment methods, including in vitro testing, in vivo testing, and computer simulations. Finally, the article looks to the future of technological development and policy recommendations, emphasizing the importance of establishing international standards and strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation to ensure the safe application of nanomaterials in cosmetics.
