<p>Many criteria come to limit the Energy Efficiency (EE) actions in the transportation field. This paper gives a solution to improve the EE in railway transportation by meeting all political, social, environmental, and technical issues of the Moroccan context. It consists of a smart control strategy that uses a robust control, able to deliver to the locomotives circulating in the catenary the just power needed to drive following the eco-driving speed recommended. Two scenarios were proposed in this paper, that show how the control strategy used can stop delivering the power recommended by the eco-driving protocol and switching to the usual power delivered by the substation. The sliding mode control scheme is used to achieve this objective. The simulation results given by Matlab show the effectiveness of the control and the strategy of energy management proposed.</p>
