<p>Clarify the distribution characteristics of laminar thicknesses and spontaneous imbibition laws of different types of laminated shale can theoretically help increase production and efficiency in continental shale reservoirs. In this study, the Triassic Chang 7<sub>2</sub> Shale of the Yanchang Formation were selected, the XRD experiments on bright and dark laminae were carried out, and the differences in mineral compositions of different types of laminae were statistically analyzed. The thicknesses distribution characteristics of the bright (sandy) and dark (muddy) laminae were observed through multi-scale observation methods, and the distribution laws of thicknesses of different types of laminae were characterized. It found that the thickness distribution of bright laminae, dark laminae and total laminae followed the power function, logarithmic function and exponential function. In addition, spontaneous water imbibition experiments on different types of laminae with different laminar directions were conducted, the change laws of imbibition mass and rate were determined, and the evolution of pore connectivity in different imbibition stages were characterized. It found that the water imbibition process can be divided into three stages, the process of bright lamina shows isotropy and dark lamina shows obvious anisotropy. On this basis, spontaneous oil imbibition experiments were carried out after spontaneous water imbibition, the oil imbibition process was divided into two stages, and found the process of bright lamina and dark lamina both shows isotropy. These results can provide theoretical basis for constructing geological model of laminated continental shale reservoirs and then optimizing and designing reservoir fracturing and reformation schemes.</p>
