摘要

In the present study, the groundwater quality and its suitability for agricultural, and industrial purposes were evaluated in the Naini Industrial Area. A total of 60 representative groundwater samples were collected from pre-monsoon, monsoon, and post monsoon season in the year 2023 and analyzed for major cations and anions. The suitability of groundwater for agricultural purpose is assessed using Salinity, Percent Sodium (%Na), Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), Residual Sodium Carbonate (RSC), Magnesium Hazard (MH), Permeability Index (PI) and Kelly's ratio (KR). The results of the indices suggest that the majority of the groundwater samples are suitable for irrigation. However, some of the samples were depicted to be unsuitable for agricultural uses owing to high KR, MH and PI. The appropriateness of groundwater quality for industrial purposes is assessed using indices like Aggressive Index (AI), Langelier Saturation Index (LSI), and Ryznar Stability Index (RSI). Based on the values of LSI, RSI, and AI, the groundwater quality in the Naini Industrial Area is generally moderately corrosive with scaling tendency in few samples. The study advocates proper treatment for the groundwater prior to its use in irrigation and industries.
