Background <p>Collagen membranes are commonly used for stabilization of secondary intraoral mucosal defects; however, once hydrated, they tend to curl and lose rigidity, making intraoral handling and fixation technically challenging.</p> Technique <p>We describe the Collagen-Peel with Stay-Suture Anchor Technique, a simple method to facilitate accurate placement and stabilization of hydrated collagen membranes. After defect measurement, the membrane is trimmed with a peripheral margin and placed onto a sterile paper template, forming a collagen–paper unit that provides temporary stiffness and prevents curling. The unit is positioned over the defect, and stay sutures are placed at the corners and midpoints to secure orientation and fixation. The paper backing is then gently peeled off, followed by completion of marginal suturing.</p> Conclusion <p>This technique simplifies intraoral handling of collagen membranes by preventing curling and improving stablization. It offers a simple and practical alternative to bulkier conventional methods.</p>

Collagen-Peel with Stay-Suture Anchor: A Simple Technique for Collagen Membrane Placement in the Oral Cavity

Background

Collagen membranes are commonly used for stabilization of secondary intraoral mucosal defects; however, once hydrated, they tend to curl and lose rigidity, making intraoral handling and fixation technically challenging.

Technique

We describe the Collagen-Peel with Stay-Suture Anchor Technique, a simple method to facilitate accurate placement and stabilization of hydrated collagen membranes.
