<p>Odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is known for its recurrence and aggressive behaviour, but is occasionally seen in the maxilla and maxillary sinus. Mucormycosis, a fulminant fungal infection, typically affects immunocompromised individuals, but is seldom seen affecting immunocompetent individuals. Here we present a case of mucormycosis in a healthy 26-year -old male with recurrent OKC in the maxillary region. Previous surgeries and root canal treatments likely compromised the mucosal barriers, facilitating fungal colonization. The patient received aggressive surgical debridement and antifungal therapy, leading to a favourable outcome. This case highlights the importance of multidisciplinary management and awareness of unusual presentations of OKC, as well as the role of compromised mucosal barriers in facilitating infections.</p>
