<p>Even though an epidermoid cyst can manifest in any part of the human body as a soft benign mass, its occurrence in the oral cavity is relatively unusual. Furthermore, literature reveals that an intraosseous manifestation of an epidermoid cyst in the facial skeleton is seldom encountered. Here, we report an extremely rare case of an intraosseous epidermoid cyst located in the posterior region of the maxilla. This paper is intended to emphasize on the fact that the documented cases in the literature regarding the manifestation of epidermoid cyst in the maxillofacial region are increasing in the recent past. Hence, whenever an oral and maxillofacial surgeon encounters a uniform, well defined, unilocular radiolucent lesion causing expansile erosion in the jaw bones specifically the maxilla, it is prudent to include an epidermoid cyst in the differential diagnosis.</p>
