摘要

Rhinosporidiosis is a chronic granulomatous disease of the mucous membrane of the nose and upper respiratory tract. This is endemic to South East Asia and Africa. These lesions have been known to have presented as polypoidal lesions of the mucous membrane of the mouth as well. The involvement of the parotid duct is extremely rare, with 10 such presentations ever reported in the English Scientific Literature. However, the fact that 9 out the 10 were from India and all in the last 10 years, is noteworthy. The diagnosis and management of such pathology is not well standardised and the probable existence of this entity has not been mentioned in any standard text or journals of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or Pathology till date. We report one such case of unusual rhinosporidiosis along with extensive literature review to emphasize the need to know of this entity and its management.
