Introduction <p>Fracture healing requires adequate inter-fragmentary bony contact to heal primarily. When it is associated with the platelet-rich plasma, it acts as an adjunct along with open reduction and internal fixation of fractures. </p> Aim <p>The present study was planned to evaluate the role of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the acceleration of bone fracture healing as an adjunct for fracture management.</p> Materials and methods <p>A prospective randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted. The subject group was divided into (A) the group that was offered standard open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with PRP gel and (B) the group that was only managed by ORIF.</p> Results <p>Bone healing was assessed via CT and showed significantly higher HU in the study group at 1&#xa0;month [15.24%] and 3&#xa0;months [30.18%] with <i>p</i>-value of &lt; 0.001 and hence eliminates the null hypothesis., but the 1–3-month incremental gain was not statistically significant (<i>p</i> = 0.3622).</p> Conclusion <p>The use of growth factor-rich plasma decreased the time to fracture healing, as evidenced by measurements of bone density at the fracture site. The study group experienced a greater decrease in postoperative oedema and wound dehiscence than the control group. PRP gel is an important tool in several surgical specialties.</p>

Aim
