Precision Facial Incisions: A Deep Dive into Colorado Microdissection Needle
摘要
There has always been need of more haemostatic and minimal scar causing method to create incisions over craniomaxillofacial region, and Colorado microdissection needle helps to achieve this.
ObjectiveThe purpose of the research was to evaluate in-depth efficacy, wound healing, scar formation, postoperative complications of microdissection cautery tip for skin-opening incisions in craniomaxillofacial procedures.
MethodsA time-based prospective study was carried out from April 2022 to October 2023. All skin-opening incision was placed by N103A needle. Detailed evaluation of 122 incisions was carried out for intraoperative bleeding, macroscopic changes over margins, wound healing, scar formation and post-operative complications.
ResultSouthampton scale average scores reduced from 12.63 to 2.049 at 1 month which indicated effective wound healing. Scar assessment scale showed significantly improved scores from 3.36 postoperatively to 4.05 at 1 month depicting significant reduction in scar formation.
ConclusionAll the observations prove safety and efficacy of N103A tip. We highly recommend use of microdissection tip for skin-opening incision over maxillofacial region more routinely without any scepticism. Placement of coronal incision is not recommended in accordance with concerns of alopecia and needs to be further evaluated with larger sample size.
