Purpose <p>This single-arm clinical study aimed to evaluate the role of topical ozone therapy in managing chronic facial wounds, assessing its effectiveness in reducing pain, decreasing wound size, and promoting healing.</p> Methods <p>Eleven participants with chronic facial wounds were enrolled over three months. Topical ozone therapy was administered in a gaseous form on the initial day followed by ozonated saline-soaked gauze dressing. Ozone gas is generated using a Medical Ozone generator, and wound assessments were conducted on days 1, 3, and 7. Pain intensity was measured using the visual analog scale (VAS), wound size was assessed, and healing rates were calculated. Statistical analysis was performed to evaluate changes over time.</p> Results <p>Mean VAS scores showed a significant decline from day 1 (7.09) to day 3 (2.81), with no pain reported on day 7. Mean wound size also decreased significantly from day 1 (14.3 cm<sup>2</sup>) to day 3 (4.9 cm<sup>2</sup>) and day 7 (0.68 cm<sup>2</sup>), indicating progressive healing. The rate of wound healing on day 7 exceeded that of day 3, with a statistically significant difference observed. </p> Conclusion <p>Topical ozone therapy demonstrates effectiveness in managing chronic facial wounds, as evidenced by significant reductions in pain scores and wound size over seven days. However, further clinical and experimental studies are required to provide direct evidence for its mechanism of action and to substantiate our results. </p>
