摘要

The voices of female coaches are critical to understanding their marginalization in high-performance sport. This systematic review examines challenges reported by female coaches, following the PRISMA guidelines. Articles published between 2010 and 2023 were sourced from EBSCOhost, Taylor and Francis Online, Scopus, APA PsycNET, and Open Access Theses and Dissertations databases. From 5256 records, 31 studies were selected, representing the perspectives of 454 female coaches. Football dominated the sports coached (32.26%), followed by multi-sport (29.03%). Most studies used theoretical frameworks (70.97%), while 29.03% did not. The review identified four thematic areas and subthemes: (1) organizational—structural inequalities, resource allocation, and workload management; (2) sociocultural—gender stereotypes, cultural norms, and institutional bias; (3) personal—work–life balance, psychological challenges; and (4) interpersonal—lack of mentorship, peer dynamics, and leadership exclusion. On the basis of the findings, we recommend that sports organizations take a proactive role in implementing systemic changes to foster equality and inclusivity within the coaching profession.
