Exploring the Potential of Trichoderma harzianum THNUU-1 for bio-Valorization of Agricultural Waste

Agricultural waste poses significant environmental challenges, but innovative recycling methods can transform it into valuable resources. This study investigates the use of Trichoderma harzianum THNUU-1 to enhance the nutritional quality of feed for livestock and poultry through solid-state fermentation. The study focuses on the growth and production of bioactive substances of Trichoderma harzianum THNUU-1 by solid-state fermentation to produce feed for livestock and poultry by recycling agricultural waste. Trichoderma harzianum THNUU-1 cultured in Mandel's liquid medium containing 2% amaranth straw for 72 h produced endo-1,4-β-glucanase (6.68 units/ml), exo-1,4-β-glucanase (2.89 units/ml) and synthesized cellulase complex with glucosidase (2.41 units/ml) and protein amount of 6.8 mg/ml; The amount of non-exchangeable amino acids in the feed additive made from amaranth plant waste increased by 41.5%, including phenylalanine –(43.9 mg/g), leucine –(52.8 mg/g), methionine (52.7 mg/g) and isoleucine (45.8 mg/g). To increase the nutritional value of wheat straw and amaranth plant waste with low nutritional quality, it was determined that it is optimal to process T. harzianum THNUU-1 (857) fungus for five days at a temperature of 30°C. The prepared feed supplement contained 16.8% protein, 18.1% sugar, 2.29% fat, and 39.5% essential amino acids. The nutrient unit of feed additive prepared based on the straw of amaranth plant is 0.81. Nitrogen increased by 2.59%, calcium by 2.28%, phosphorus by 1.07%, and the total energy value by 3050 kcal/kg. These results prove that Trichoderma-based inoculation has the potential to accelerate amaranth straw decomposition.
