Continuously tunable Nd:NaLa(WO4)2 laser operating in 1300–1400 nm spectral region on 4F3/2 → 4I13/2 transition

A continuously tunable Nd:NaLa(WO4)2 laser operating in 1300–1400 nm spectral region on 4F3/2 → 4I13/2 transition is demonstrated by pumping with a diode laser. Broadband tuning wavelengths are obtained in two polarizations by rotating the Lyot filter. The tuning widths of the output wavelengths in the π- and σ-polarizations are 67 nm (from 1323 to 1390 nm) and 69 nm (from 1326 to 1395 nm), respectively. At an incident pump power of 20 W at 808 nm, the maximum continuous-wave (CW) output powers in the π- and σ-polarizations are 4.41 W at 1334 nm and 5.72 W at 1339 nm, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first tunable laser operation by using Nd:NaLa(WO4)2 crystal.
