<p>Nowadays, noise pollution is pervasive and a continuous issue in our daily lives. The World Health Organisation states that noise pollution poses a significant health risk to all individuals. Researchers have conducted extensive study over the years to analyse the rising noise levels globally, however there is a lack of awareness about this issue in society. This study work primarily aims to identify elevated noise levels during day and night-time in comparison to the allowed standard noise levels set by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal. A sound pressure level meter is used to examine the twenty-three (23) sites in the Bhopal region, and the nine most sensitive receptors are also identified over the study locations to enhance the findings. Noise mapping is also conducted utilising Arc-GIS software to better interpret noise pollution factors such as equivalent Noise Level <i>L</i><sub>eq</sub> dB(<i>A</i>)<i>,</i> Traffic Noise Index (TNI)<i>,</i> Noise Climate Index (NCI)<i>,</i> and Noise Pollution Level (NPL)<i>.</i> The monitoring and mapping findings indicate an immediate need to implement preventative measures to manage traffic noise pollution in the city and raise awareness among the population, due to the escalated levels of noise pollution in the study regions.</p>
