Existential Travel Psychology: An Exploration for Optimal Well-Being
摘要
The twenty-first century is characterized by a pervasive existence of crises that profoundly affect the well-being of society. These crises, encompassing existential ennui, anxiety, and alienation, pose significant challenges for 21st-century individuals, seemingly defying resolution. Existentialism, a philosophical and psychological outlook, explores the nature of human existence, individuality, and the quest for meaning in life. While travel psychology and existentialism are distinct disciplines, they share connections in understanding how travel impacts existential issues. Travel psychology seeks to unravel the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral effects of travel. This paper aims to highlight the positive aspects of travel, the travelers, and the potential to enhance our mental and physical health. The methodology applied is purely qualitative. It also seeks to integrate psychological perspectives on travel with existential theory, drawing upon literary references and current societal challenges as primary sources. Furthermore, it proposes a model for existential well-being called TRAVEL, which would serve as a valuable guide for overcoming existential crises and nurturing a fulfilled and joyful existence.
