摘要

Purpose of the Review

This review aims to synthesize the available evidence regarding management of acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) in patients undergoing breast radiotherapy (RT) with a specific focus on patient-centered and practical interventions.

Recent Findings

While there is basic agreement on the value of patient education and common proactive measures of self-care in minimizing ARD, the utilization of supplementary assorted emollients and topical barriers remains varied. Several confirmatory randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have provided strong evidence for prophylactic topical corticosteroids and the selective use of barrier films or gels. Other studies have introduced promising data on novel and natural agents.

Summary

Examining the available evidence along with published consensus guidelines, this review converges on a clinic-ready management algorithm for feasible, evidence-based prevention and management of ARD.
