Expected distance of a unit load pick in a warehouse with scalable storage assignment policy zones
摘要
We provide a warehouse travel distance model for a unit load in a warehouse with class-based storage assignment zones operating under single cycle commands. Our travel distance model generalizes the model by Hall (1993) as we incorporate turnover based storage assignment areas across the warehouse. By modeling the warehouse with a continuous approximation, we employ applied probability theory to obtain closed form expressions for the expected storage/retrieval travel distances for a unit load in a traditional warehouse. The result is a travel time model that is applicable to unit load warehouses that employ storage assignment policies.
