摘要

Sustainability adoption is considered one of the most critical dimensions of any business organization to survive in this competitive business environment. Many research studies proved that integrating the emerging technologies with existing business practices helps the organization to enhance economic, social, and environmental sustainability in the forward supply chain. Integration of these technologies with reverse logistics is complex due to the uncertainties regarding the timing, volume, and quality of the returned items, coordination between different stakeholders, cost of collection, routing and transportation, etc. As there is still a lack of complete and organized conceptualization of smart reverse logistics and sustainability, this systematic literature review paper examines 87 research documents in the existing body of knowledge to explore on emerging technologies in the context of reverse logistics and sustainability. This article also summarises and provides a conceptual framework for how technology intelligence, primarily Industry 4.0, help organizations have sustainable and smart reverse logistics. Moreover, the present study offers suggestions for the potential area of future research for both academic scholars and industry practitioners.
