<p>A novel one-dimensional photonic crystal (PC) structure exhibiting band-blocking characteristic in visible spectrum is proposed. Through controlled selection of subcell configurations and adjustment of their repetition numbers pure transmission band with and without center wavelength can be obtained. The results demonstrate that the desired spectral characteristics are obtained using small number of layers, ensuring structural compactness. Owing to reduced thickness and tunable spectral response, the proposed structure may exhibit high sensitivity and improved performance in biomedical sensing and color filter applications.</p>

摘要
