Long reach 20 × 10 Gbps data transmission system based on optical frequency comb lines technique with optimized dispersion compensation using DCF and FBG
摘要
In this study, we proposed and demonstrated 200 Gbps (20 channel WDM link × 10Gbps data) data transmission system using optical frequency comb lines (OFCL) and dispersion compensation scheme over 200 km single mode fiber and 41.88 km dispersion compensation fiber (DCF). We used OFCL as a broadband laser source (BLS) based on a single continuous wave (CW) laser source which produces 58 comb lines with a side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) of ~ 40 dB and flatness of ~ 0.01 dB. Pre-compensation, post-compensation and symmetrical compensation are compared for the proposed system to find out the best one. The achieved Q factor and BER value are 9 and 5.75 × 10–10 respectively for the post-compensation scheme employing DCF. The results are very good and effective compared to other two schemes. Fiber Brag grating (FBG) is used with dispersion compensation fiber (DCF) in post compensation scheme, and it enhances the transmission distance upto 220 km SMF + 46 km DCF with Q factor and BER value are 7.25 and 3.0 × 10–9 respectively. This study offers valuable insights about dispersion compensation. Comparative suggestive analysis is stable, efficient, and cost effective, which makes the system may act well for high data rate transmission over long-distance fiber optical communication system.
