<p>A highly sensitive surface plasmon resonance-based (SPR) biosensor is presented in this paper. This biosensor can detect leukemia (blood cancer) and demonstrates promising performance parameters. The results of this study could be useful for health monitoring in patients at risk of blood cancer. Both leukemic and healthy blood samples were examined. The core idea of this work is to detect slight changes in the refractive index of these samples, which correspond to variations in blood composition and help determine whether a patient has blood cancer. Simulation results show remarkable values of sensitivity and figure of merit at 395&#xa0;deg/RIU and 76.55 RIU⁻<sup>1</sup>, respectively. The simulations were performed using the transfer matrix method (TMM) in MATLAB.</p>
