摘要

In response to the growing demand for advanced transportation systems, Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) have emerged as a promising solution for enhancing mobility and safety. As a specialized subset of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs), VANETs enable autonomous wireless communication among vehicles and Roadside Units (RSUs). However, with the increasing need for connected vehicles, ensuring the stability and security of communicated data has become a critical challenge. To address these concerns, this paper presents a blockchain-based framework designed to manage and secure communication over VANETs. Initially developed for Zigbee mesh networks, our framework simulates VANET functionalities to support accident message broadcasting, traffic light information exchange, advertisement announcements, and indication of road congestion levels. Emphasizing cost-effectiveness and simplicity, we adopt a low-complexity methodology to facilitate widespread adoption. By integrating blockchain technology, we ensure data integrity and protection against unauthorized alterations or tampering, thus overcoming major data-sharing challenges in smart city environments. Furthermore, we explore the potential of transitioning from Zigbee to optical networks, anticipating enhanced communication capabilities and broader application within VANETs. The secured event data collected through our framework offers significant promise for future analysis aimed at improving road quality and traffic management systems.
