摘要

In this paper, we propose a new application in laser cleaning for gold (Au), silver (Ag), and aluminum (Al) cultural relics using SPP mode in the ultraviolet (UV) region. Noble transition metals Au and Ag have chemical properties that are much less active than metal Al. However, their light-matter interaction is much higher than that of Al, with higher absorption efficiency. The photothermal and photochemical ablation is much better and more interesting for Au and Ag, and the efficiency is enhanced with 25.4% coupling and higher cleaning efficiency. The SPP mode on noble transition metals shows a negative mode loss contribution for the dirt layer with complex dispersion relations. We believe this new generation waveguide-based SPP mode laser cleaning concept can have a significant theoretical and practical contribution to the improvement of traditional laser cleaning applications.
