Characterization and elemental analysis of Ananas comosus peel waste by utilizing various spectroscopic procedures

Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a spectroscopic technique for elemental analysis of specimens with no or little sample preparation. In the present work, an analytical technique suitable for quick identification and quantification of various minerals in Ananas comosus peel using different drying techniques has been demonstrated. Multivariate method i.e., Principal Components Analysis has also been applied over the LIBS dataset for discrimination of the constituents based on minor or major elements present in the sample. To confirm the organic elements or compounds present in the sample are confirmed using FTIR and XRD analysis. The morphology of Ananas comosus peels powder samples is studied using SEM analysis. The present approach can be a suitable tool for online elemental analysis of different drying techniques of Ananas comosus peel powder as well as its medicinal and industrial applications.
