Zero-throw tunable magnifications: thin lenses, meniscus and flexible mirrors

For generating tunable magnifications, with zero-throw, we disclose several Gaussian designs that use either thin lenses, or a thick meniscus with flexible surfaces. We extend these results to mirrors with governable curvature radii. As the magnification changes, the proposed devices preserve either the inter-element separation, or their thickness. We illustrate our results by designing a Barlow lens that preserves the location of its back focal plane, while tuning the angular magnification.
