<p>With the increasing demand for sustainable protein sources in aquaculture worldwide, new feed ingredients were developed to replace traditional fishmeal (FM) and soy. Among these, insect meals became a promising protein source, with the possibility of partially or totally replacing FM and soy in aquafeeds. Limited information is available on amino and fatty acid composition, digestibility, and suitability of various diets provided to insects for fulfillment of nutritional requirement of cultured fish species. This paper gives an overview of the nutritional properties of insect meals, their composition relative to fish needs, and the minor insect meal groups used in aquaculture. Inclusion of insect meal in aquafeed presents several challenges: safety issues, customer acceptability, and potential allergies. Aquaculture is an emerging industry; therefore, the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly feed components is crucial in improving global food security. The inclusion of insect meal in aquafeed reduces dependence on wild fish stocks and resolves ecological issues on overfishing. This review would give insight into the nutritional property of insect meals, composition relative to fish requirements, and minor insect meal groups used in aquaculture, giving useful insights for creating sustainable aquafeeds.</p>
