For almost five decades, social work in particular has been criticized for the fact that social services in inpatient care facilities for the elderly lack an original, differentiated task profile. In view of the social and sociopolitical transformation processes that have changed the demands placed on social services in this field, it is currently particularly relevant to specify them in concrete terms. Based on the results of focus groups and expert interviews with social service professionals in inpatient care for the elderly, the article presents their current tasks and recent changes in this regard.
