摘要
The non-take up of welfare benefits represents a widespread phenomenon in welfare states and is increasingly the subject of academic and political discussion. This phenomenon involves a conscious or unconscious renunciation of benefits despite eligibility. So far, there is a lack of nuanced knowledge regarding the subjectively experienced life situation—particularly in old age. To understand the nonutilization at the intersection of old age and poverty, affected individuals are interviewed using episodic interviews, and the data are then analyzed with the Grounded Theory methodology. This article provides an overview of the dissertation project by presenting the state of research and research interest, the methodological approach, as well as initial analytical considerations.
