Identification of the antibiotics produced by the marine bacterium Tianweitania aestuarii AFB23-2D1
摘要
Antibacterial screening of the extracts from marine bacteria collected from Japanese tidal flats led us to focus on Tianweitania aestuarii AFB23-2D1 as a producer of antibiotics active against the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis. Bioassay-guided fractionation of the extract from the culture of this bacterium revealed that long-chain N-acylvalines are the main antibacterial components. Their structures were elucidated by the interpretation of spectroscopic data, and the absolute stereochemistry of the component valine was determined to be L by the advanced Marfey’s analysis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report for the isolation of N-isopentadecanoylvaline and N-tetradecanoylvaline from nature.
