Purpose <p>This study aims to evaluate a balloon-based method for improving shape uniformity and procedural efficiency in intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT), while minimizing patient discomfort compared to traditional gauze packing.</p> Methods <p>A balloon device was developed to fill the vaginal cavity with contrast agent. The balloon method was compared to the gauze packing method in terms of shape reproducibility, procedural time, and cavity filling uniformity, evaluated via CT imaging.</p> Results <p>The balloon method demonstrated superior uniformity in contrast agent distribution within the vaginal cavity and required less procedural time (10&#xa0;min) compared to the gauze packing method (15&#xa0;min). It also showed greater precision in shaping the vaginal cavity.</p> Conclusions <p>The balloon method offers an effective alternative to gauze packing. This approach may enhance procedural efficiency and patient experience. Future studies should investigate its applicability across diverse vaginal anatomies and its potential clinical impact.</p>

Purpose

This study aims to evaluate a balloon-based method for improving shape uniformity and procedural efficiency in intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT), while minimizing patient discomfort compared to traditional gauze packing.

Methods
