<p>Kechun Lin (1926—2022) was an eminent biophysicist and educator, one of the earliest explorers of biophysics in China, and the year 2026 marks the centenary of his birth. He led to establish the Department of Biophysics at Beijing Medical College (now Peking University Health Science Center) in the 1950s as one of the earliest and most distinguished biophysical research centers in China. He co-founded the Biophysical Society of China, and advocated for its membership in the International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB). He was the head of the delegation of the Biophysical Society of China to the International Biophysics Congress, and was elected and served for two consecutive terms as the IUPAB Councilor in the 1980s. His broad interests in biophysics covered lipid research, lipid-protein interactions, and medical issues related biomembranes.</p>
