<p>The genus <i>Ercolania</i>, belonging to the family Limapontiidae, colloquially termed “leaf-veined slugs” or “sap-sucking slugs”, remains relatively underexplored in the Indian Ocean. This study presents the first documentation and detailed description of <i>Ercolania gujaratensis</i> sp. nov. discovered along the Okha coast in the Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat, India. The new species, <i>E. gujaratensis</i> sp. nov., is characterized by the presence of one sabot-shaped tooth in the ascending row, with a ghost or phantom teeth phenomenon observed in certain specimens, and four teeth in the descending row. Adults attain a maximum size of 10&#xa0;mm, displaying six to eight irregular longitudinal bands comprising 13 to 15 spindle-shaped transparent cerata adorned with silver-pigmented spots. Furthermore, DNA barcoding integrated with multigene sequence analysis and phylogenetic investigations, using mitochondrial genes COI and 16S, and nuclear gene Histone 3, provide robust support for the distinctiveness of <i>E. gujaratensis</i> sp. nov. from previously described species of <i>Ercolania</i>.</p>
