<p>Flood scenarios depend on modeling, geospatial, and hydraulic inputs. Frequent flooding of the Beki River in Assam causes socio-economic impacts, but the absence of inundation data complicates realistic economic damage assessments. The present study has been taken up to generate flood inundation maps for various flood discharge and duration scenarios with both open-source coarse resolution digital elevation model (DEM) and a cost-intensive high-resolution WorldDEM. For uniformity, both the DEMs have been modelled with the HEC-RAS 2D model&#xa0;to&#xa0;generate&#xa0;flood scenarios. In the&#xa0;comparison of the simulated scenarios with actual inundation, it was observed that&#xa0;open-source DEM grossly overestimates&#xa0;where the WorldDEM has an accuracy of 71.11%. The study revealed that the area of flood inundation increases polynomially with the flow rate. On the estimation of flood damage and relief, economically, the usage of the costly high-resolution WorldDEM is justified many folds, keeping in view the savings obtained in damage assessment and relief distribution.</p>
