<p>Every four years, the Public Health Foresight Study (PHFS) provides an overview of what society can expect in the field of public health and care. This article describes the outline, key findings and the significance of the PHFS-2024 ‘Choosing a&#xa0;healthy future’ for policy, practice, and research. Challenges for the next 25&#xa0;years are: preparing for an ageing population, reducing health inequalities, improving the health of young people, making choices in healthcare, and working on a&#xa0;healthy, climate-resilient living environment. The PHFS-2024 forms the basis of further debate and joint development of solutions by practice, policy, and science and society.</p>
