<p>Regional collaboration is being stimulated in policy and practice to find solutions for societal challenges in healthcare and wellbeing. However, by their very nature, regional networks have strengths and weaknesses. Without attention to the inherent dilemmas, good intentions might turn into resistance. In this article we analyze (the lagging of) transformation in the region using the five dilemmas from the RVS essay <i>De regio als redding?</i> We conclude that shattering old patterns and thoughts is essential for regional collaboration to succeed. It is important to give societal interests more weight than organizational interests in this transformation.</p>
