<p>The essay discusses the limits and restrictions of theories of International Relations using selected examples from the German research landscape. In this way, it aims to illustrate how time-bound theoretical approaches in this discipline are and thus inevitably remain limited in their informative value. The article argues that global political reality is too complex and changeable to be adequately captured by highly reductive approaches.</p>
