<p>Investigating the spatial distribution of geoparks is crucial for the development and preservation of geoheritages. Yunnan Province has established 13 geoparks of varying levels, creating a network to protect geoheritage. The geoparks in Yunnan Province have obvious geological evolution laws and are mostly located at the boundary of geological structural units, in which the combination of geological relics is the superposition result of multiple geological events, and sudden geological events play a prominent role in the landscape formation of the geoparks. However, there are also unfavorable factors, including (1) uneven spatial distribution, poor uniformity, density in the north and sparseness in the south; (2) serious overlapping of different types of protected areas; (3) the development of geoparks greatly restricted by the county economic level. Therefore, this study proposes a plan for integrating and optimizing geoparks in Yunnan Province. Firstly, it is crucial to actively seek protection vacancies, strategically optimize the layout to enhance and perfect the overall spatial arrangement of Yunnan geoparks. Secondly, it is imperative to integrate and optimize various nature reserves to address the challenges associated with multiple management and overlapping of geoparks. Thirdly, it is crucial to prioritize the holistic development of geoparks across the province, addressing the uneven development issue and enhancing their overall appeal. The study is anticipated to enhance the spatial distribution of Yunnan geoparks and facilitate the sustainable development of these geoparks.</p>
