Beyond resilience: an examination of critical success factors for viable supply chains
摘要
Climate change, wars, and pandemics are potential threats to global supply chains, as the COVID-19 pandemic showed how vulnerable they are. The concept of the viable supply chain was introduced to strengthen them against potential future risks and disruptions. This study aims to identify critical success factors for the viability of the supply chain, focusing on Iran’s machine-made carpet industry, a sector heavily affected by the pandemic. This research identifies 118 critical success factors for supply chain viability through in-depth interviews and expert questionnaires, categorized into 22 themes using thematic analysis. Subsequently, fuzzy cognitive maps modeling and scenario analysis were utilized to model the identified critical success factors. Analysis revealed that supply chain coordination, planning and foresight, leadership skills and personality traits, and environmental stability are crucial for the viability of the industry’s supply chain. The study contributes to understanding supply chain viability, sharing important implications with practitioners and policymakers seeking to enhance viability in uncertain environments.
