<p>In this manuscript, we deal with the first order identification problem (IP) for abstract degenerate delay differential equations in a Banach space. Our initial approach involves formulating appropriate assumptions concerning the closed linear operators. This enables us to achieve a unique solvability by reducing the problem to a nondegenerate case. The general scenario is subsequently addressed utilizing novel findings regarding convolutions. Next, some examples are given to check the validity and accuracy of our abstract results.</p>
