摘要

Psycho-oncological distress screening, as supported by robust empirical evidence and consistent with national and international guidelines, is an established component of the German Cancer Society’s (DKG) certification system. The implementation of standardized screening procedures and defined care algorithms has significantly enhanced the psychosocial support provided to individuals with cancer. This article outlines essential features of evidence-based screening that warrant careful consideration from both clinical and ethical perspectives: a sound evidence base, validated screening instruments with psychometrically tested cut-off scores, and structured care pathways outlining responsibilities and recommended actions following a positive screening result. Ensuring the feasibility and acceptability of screening for both clinical settings and patients is important. In view of the growing implementation of screening initiatives, these aspects should be critically evaluated and further refined.
