Ethische Aspekte beim Umgang mit genetischen Zusatzbefunden
摘要
Genomic analysis methods are becoming increasingly important in medical practice. Such analyses can also identify health-related genetic changes that are not related to the reason for the test. Returning these so-called additional genetic findings raises questions that require careful consideration of ethically relevant aspects. These include the impact of additional genetic findings on the health, autonomy, and life planning of the individuals concerned and, to a certain extent, their relatives; the burden on the healthcare system associated with reporting of the findings; and, in the case of additional findings in minors, the best interests of the child and the right to an open future. To support practitioners, particularly in designing the consent process for genomic analyses with regard to additional genetic findings, the Heidelberg Expert Group EURAT (Ethical and Legal Aspects of Translational Medicine) has published ethical and legal analyses, recommendations, information materials, and sample texts.
