<p>This study investigates the effect of green Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) on rice seedlings. The ZnO NPs were biosynthesized using <i>Saraca asoca</i> leaf extract. The rice seedlings were grown in hydroponics and were evaluated for seed germination, root and shoot elongation, chlorophyll content, and antioxidant enzyme activity. The results showed that the germination of the seeds was not significantly affected by ZnO NPs. However, ZnO NPs affected the development of rice seedlings by reducing their biomass, chlorophyll content, as well as their length. ZnO NPs application above 300&#xa0;mg/L increased the antioxidant enzyme activity mainly proline, malondialdehyde, and superoxide dismutase, which indicates oxidative stress tolerance in rice seedlings. According to these findings, ZnO NPs affected the development of rice seedlings and induced oxidative stress tolerance in a dose-dependent manner.</p>
