Bildgebung der Kieferhöhlen
摘要
The maxillary sinuses are an important anatomical structure in oral and maxillofacial (OMF) surgery and dentistry as a whole, with high relevance for various diseases and therapeutic procedures. For example, the maxillary sinuses can be affected by odontogenic infections, which can also spread from there to the other paranasal sinuses. They are usually involved in bony trauma to the midface, and their basal portions are used for augmentative measures in the upper posterior tooth region in the context of implantations. Benign and malignant tumors can also originate here. Since the maxillary sinuses cannot be directly inspected due to their anatomical location within the facial skull, imaging of the maxillary sinuses is fundamentally important to our field. It forms the basis of diagnosis and surgical planning. This review article discusses the individual, noninvasive techniques for imaging the maxillary sinuses and summarizes the current status and foreseeable developments.
