Blick zurück, Blick nach vorn: die letzten 25 Jahre der Deutschen Mund‑, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie aus Sicht des Arbeitskreises leitender Krankenhausärzte
摘要
The Arbeitskreis leitender Krankenhausärzte in der Mund‑, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie (Working Group of Senior Hospital Physicians in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) was founded in the mid-1980s and comprised around 25 representatives of non-university hospital main departments. It was positioned between the scientific society and professional association of the time. Looking back, following the reunification of Germany, the year 1990 was significant, as the non-university oral and maxillofacial surgery departments in the former German Democratic Republic were integrated into the working group. The 1990s were marked by continued further development of oral and maxillofacial surgery departments. The successful foundation of the umbrella association in 2000 considerably eased tensions in the field. Looking back, the problems of the past were the same as the problems of the present: the urgent need to attract enough new physicians to the field combined with working time legislation, the establishment of head and neck cancer centers with the OnkoZert certification, introduction of the diagnosis-related groups (DRG) system, questions related to physician liability, and many more. The activities of the working group have always been characterized by intensive training in these fields and beyond in all relevant areas of department direction.
