摘要

The upcoming bioeconomy strategy of the European Union will have a strong focus on sustainable and circular use of biological resources. In this regard, use of waste-, residue- or untapped biogenic resources will allow the development of new value chains. For instance, fractionation of lignocellulose is pursued to gain new materials and platform chemicals like lactic acid. Here, continuous fermentation with cell-recycling can overcome hurdles that are witnessed during the classical batch process.
