摘要

Bacteria are often exposed to heavy metals in their environment, which leads to bacterial stress due to their toxicity. In our study we were able to show that increased concentrations can promote metal tolerance of Staphylococcus aureus. Adaptation occurs through spontaneous mutations in specific genes. Therefore, potentially every S. aureus can become tolerant to metals, leading to reduced effectiveness of these antibacterial compounds.
