<p>Complex material degradation in a bioreactor is an intricate and cost-intensive process in terms of microorganisms and cultivation conditions. Thus, an all-together solution in which different microorganisms are cultivated together and regulate each other intrinsically would be desirable. The establishment of a functional artificial inter-kingdom communication represents a milestone for such a project and is successfully demonstrated by using pheromone systems of yeast and bacteria.</p>
